Pounta, Agia Triada
The take off from Agia Traida belongs to the municipality of
Diakofto, above the village of Trapeza. It took its name from the
homonymous historical monastery dated back to the Middle Ages. It is
at an altitude of 660 meters, co-ordinates UTM 34S N x: 606604 y:
4224721 and you can fly with a Northeast breeze from April until
September.
It is a twenty-minute drive from the crossroads Pounda-Kalavrita and the
national motorway Athens-Patra. You get to the village of Trapeza
(leaving behind your friends on the beautiful beach of Pounda) and
you follow the signs that take you to the Monastery. After the
village the road becomes a dirt road with very sharp upgrading
bends.
This take off area has just been added to
the club. The local members of the club upgraded the area and the
first flight took place in August 2000. There is a kiosk and benches
and offers a beautiful view of the Corinth gulf. It is a rather
difficult flight, because there is no inclination and it is only for
experienced pilots.
The flight is absolutely beautiful if you
gain height you can admire St. Nicholas Plateau. This has its
difficulties because if you dont gain height straight away, you must
aim to land on the beach of Pounda immediately (take care off the
people sunbathing!) and there are no alternative landings.
